Barbara Landes was born in Baltimore and now lives and works in Jersey City, New Jersey. She is a painter and has exhibited in many juried and invited shows. She is also a children's book illustrator.

She has participated in the last two annual Jersey City Open Studios Tours. This past year, she has shown in the Harmony Hill Gallery in Baltimore and the National Juried Exhibition at the New Jersey Center for the Arts in Summit. In May, 1999, she will do a fellowship at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont. Currently, her first one woman show is on view in the Rotunda Gallery of the Jersey City City Hall during March.

In 1997, Barbara received her MFA in Painting from the Graduate School of Figurative Art of the New York Academy of Art.
